48 hours until 2012

Do you have any “new” New Years resolutions?  Have you even thought about it?

Year after year I hear people say the say same things…

  • Lose weight
  • Save money
  • Set New Goals
  • Excercise
  • Pay off debt
  • Quit smoking
  • Quit drinking
  • Quit gambling
  • Find a new job
  • etc…etc…etc…

About 20% actually follow through with their resolutions while the other 80% do good for the first two weeks.  Sounds great on paper but with day-to-day living its gets harder to maintain and old habits slowly begin to surface.   In all reality, there is no need to make any list.  Make the changes throughout the year as you see fit.  Don’t wait until January 1st.  It’s like those people who start diets on Monday. Why?  Why not just start it the day after you decide you need a change.  It’s not going to make a difference.  To each their own. 😉  My motto: New day, clean slate.

It’s a New Year, Fresh start, to do it all over again or another chance to get it right.

What are some of your traditions?  Perhaps…

  • Eating 12 grapes (one for each month)
  • Walking around the block with your suitcase for fortune and much travel.
  • Red undies for love
  • Yellow undies for money
  • and so many others…

No matter how odd and wacky these traditions seem to us, these customs share an optimism that’s pretty hard not to appreciate.  Do you and your family have any odd traditions?  #thinkaboutit

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year full of health, love and prosperity.  Hope you all reach your goals.  Never give up!

Live it up, drink it down but be safe!

Happy New Year! – Feliz año Nuevo! – Felice Anno Nuovo! – Bonne année – Xin nian yu kuai – Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu -Eutychismenos.

Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xox

Drivers slow down…

It seems as though everyday, people in Miami, are driving more reckless. What is going on? I was out and about running some errands and I had cars cutting me off, not putting their signals, breaking on my bumper, swerving side to side. It wasn’t even rush hour, it was 3:00pm.  Why are some people so aggressive? Relax —– You are going to get there!

It is ridiculous what you see these days. Women putting on make-up (mascara, eyeliner) while driving (wait until you stop at a red light).  People reading the paper, shaving, [hope they run out of battery.. HA], adding sugar to their coffee (then they wonder how they got dirty and burned themselves all before making it to the office). Now the most popular thing to do while driving is texting, all it takes a quick glance at your phone for you to cause an accident.  If you need to text someone, please pull over or wait until you stop at a red light. It’s simple enough but no one gets it right until they are the victim or cause the accident.

Driving is a privilege not a right!

Ding ding ding…

I am guilty of drivtexting but it’s only when I stop at a light. {I need to stop this, it’s very easy to get caught up in the conversation and not realize the light turned green then it pisses me off when people HONK at me..LOL}  O.K. O.K. I probably deserved the honk. 😉

I have been driving for a long time now and have seen the following drivers.  Which category would you fall into?

1. Slow Pokes, are people who drive 5 to 10 miles below the speed limit.  Not limited to people older than 60.  If you drive slow, get out of the fast lane.

2. {Instant}Beepers/Honkers, are people who as soon as the light turns green they HONK, BEEP and want to run over you. I suggest going really slow…. this will get them really mad. 😉

3. Tailgaters, are people who ride your bumper until you move out the way.  Stop riding my ass, I will only move if it’s an ambulance.  I don’t think they will like it if I braked abruptly.

4. Brake Slammers, are people who slam their breaks for no apparent reason while on the open road with no cars in front of them while going 60 mph.  If you are scared, get off the road.

5. Peddle Pushers, are those young men in muscle cars (or beat up corollas) who rev their engines when at a stop or light.  They don’t know how stupid they look.  Saving the racing for the race track.

6. Floor Pickers, are people who are always looking for something on the floor of their car trying to pick something up instead of keeping their eyes on the road.

7. Undecisive Lane chooser, are people who can’t decide which lane they want to be in.  Constantly changing lanes and without notice.  Sometimes they take up two lanes.   DECIDE ALREADY!

Please feel free to add more, I’m sure I left out a few other annoying drivers.

Drive safe and slow it down…. no need to put the pedal to the metal {unless it’s a real emergency but please be cautious.}   It’s not you, it’s everyone else.

Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xoxo

13 Ways of Looking at Yourself

I was reading the November 2011 issue of O and came across of fun article which has inspired my interpretation of “13 Ways of Looking at My Body.”   After I read the article, it made me think of self-reflection and how I see myself.    If you know me, then you know I love taking pictures && yes of myself.  If only I got a dollar every time someone called me “vain”…  LOL

1. Standing in front of a mirror.

I was trying on a dress the night before a party.  I loved the way it looked {well at the moment but ask me the next day and I would say I looked like a cow.} Why is that?  I am definitely my worst critic.  {Take a moment, go stand in front of a full length mirror clothed or nude(if you’re daring) and snap away.}  What do you see?

2. Looking at my toes when I’m wearing a fabulous color.

There is nothing sexier than having your feet done. {MEN WILL NOTICE}  I can’t stand to see women wearing sandals and their toe polish is half gone.  YUCK!  That is just plain ugly.

3. Catching my reflection as I’m walking by a shop or car window.

I was at breakfast with the hubs and bestie and her car windows are huge and of course I just had to take a picture.  I don’t need a reason…

4.  Taking a picture while holding my dog.

My Sasha was sleeping on my chest (you can see the back of her head). She is just adorable.  Also if you look —–> you can see her better.  😉  {well scroll up a little and look to your right.}

5.  While rocking some red lipstick.

My inner DIVA was screaming to come out that day.  I was trying out a new shade of red and let my inner bitch get the best of me.  Red lips are so sexy!  Have fun with your make-up.  Try new colors.  You will be surprised.

6.  Wearing sunglasses.

This is not my only picture with sunglasses, I have millions…lol   Something about wearing sunglasses that completes a look.  Gives you a little mystery… ‘Who has that girl.’  Keep the sunglasses only for outdoor events…

7.   Wearing a hat.

Hats, hats and more hats… I love it! Rainy days, sunny days or when I’m feeling blue.  I put on a hat and wham instant smile.. 😉

8.  Rocking a new ring.

I love jewelry and when I find a piece that calls out to me, I just have to buy it.  Simple, classy – just beautiful.  Taking a hand shot: Please make sure your hands look nice and no chipped nail color.

9.  After a hair cut.

I took this while waiting for someone impatiently outside, just had my hair done, rocking a fab scarf and of course my shades.  That was my “What you looking at, look.” 😉   I wish I could have my hair stylist magically appear every time I washed my hair to finish it of with a blow dry. He is amazing!

10.  While getting my hair dyed.

I am a nut for taking a pic of myself while my hair is tucked in a shower cap (stop laughing). It’s a process and I got bored. Don’t judge! Anyway, Who gets their hair done in heels?  I do!   Very Classy huh? 😉

11.  With my Iphone using my befunky app.

Took this picture on my birthday and used the Befunky app.  I love the lomo art effect.   That handsome man is my hubs. 😉 I love that my hair looks jet black and by the way, thats my natural hair color (shhh)

12.  Taking a picture of lashes

I love lashes, you already know this.  This was the day after an event and my added lashes were still looking good.  I have natural long full lashes but I love adding more for a more dramatic look.  It’s all about the eyes.  It’s the gateway to the soul..right!?

13.  Rocking a cute scarf.

Something about wearing a scarf that makes you feel so sexy and elegant.   Want to glam up an outfit, just throw on a scarf and you’re good to go.  With so many textures and styles you can’t go wrong.

After self-reflecting, this is who I am.  I am happy with my looks (my eyes, my hands, my toes, my everything) despite my plump ass. {HA HA}  I don’t need to hide myself from the world.  I am proud of my hips and curves and even my freckles.

Ladies, embrace your inner girlie girl, have fun with hair and makeup and dress up.  Always wear heels – not only does it make you look longer and leaner but it makes you feel sexy.  Stop being so hard on yourself.  Who cares if you have a little extra junk in the trunk.  If you’re not happy about it, then make the changes you want to see.  Stop hiding behind the dog while taking pictures, or scared to look at a glimpse of your reflection while walking pass a store window.  If you don’t like the picture the first time, take a million more. 😉  Don’t let yourself go and always take care of yourself.

Be happy, be you.

You can call me “vain” now…

Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xoxo

It’s only been about a week since I write anything but it feels like months. I think dust bunnies were already starting to accumulate on my laptop. {LOL} Took a break because I haven’t been feeling very well these days {not myself}. I promise, I will be back to my normal chirpy self soon.  {Clearing my head…}

It’s amazing….

In a blink of an eye the days have come and gone and in less than a week we welcome 2012.  Where did my year go?  It feels like yesterday I was getting ready to celebrate NYE 2011 and now I have to prepare for a new year.  It’s madness.  Time is going by to fast which means I’m getting older..NOT COOL. 😉

This year has definitely been full of surprises and challenges some good, some bad but at the end everything worked out for the best.   Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters.  I learned many lessons.  I am truly grateful.

On a different note…

I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas holiday and celebrated with their loved ones. {Did you have too much to eat?}  I’ve enjoyed reading all the comments and seeing all the pictures on Facebook from all the holiday parties {lots of roasted pigs and desserts…}. Looks like everyone was nice and no one made the naughty list (so they say..jeje).  I think Santa mixed up some of his list. {JaJa}  It’s just something about the holidays that make people smile. I don’t know if it’s the presents, the roasted pig or the spiked eggnog. Whatever it is, too bad it doesn’t last all year round.  Can you imagine everyone being so merry and bright 365 days a year?  Oh my… {total state of bliss..ahhhh}

Wishful thinking…

How many of you are shopping today or returning/exchanging gifts?  Not me, that’s for sure. If you are, have fun, be careful and don’t spend too much.  😉

Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xox

LOL moment…

For all those men who say “why marry the cow when you can get the milk for free?” heres an update for you! Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig just for a little sausage! 😉

I can’t help but giggle whenever I read this.  It’s a little humor for the soul.

Men: Please don’t be offended. 😉

Keep it going girls this is too funny not to repost!

Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xox

Keep the magic alive.

It’s just something about Christmas and it’s magic.  Just ask the kids… Have you ever noticed how happy children are during the holidays? I love it.  The way their eyes light up when they hear the name Santa Claus.  The excitement that overcomes them while writing their letters to Santa. {There should be a one page limit ;)} Waking up in the morning all excited just to see what naughty things the Elves were up too. {Those elves get into all sorts of trouble.} Preparing the milk and cookies. {What about some brownies…} They just light up with joy. 🙂

Oh to be a kid again… I wish!

I don’t think it’s wrong for parents to lead their children on to still believe in Santa.  Why not? I think it’s sweet, I can imagine the joy a parent feels when they see their children’s eyes light up. My only advice is that you teach them the real meaning of Christmas.  It’s a time to spend with your loved ones, to appreciate and be grateful for everything you have.  Teach them to be humble and give back to those kids who are less fortunate.

Keep the magic alive within them, enjoy their innocence and imagination as long as you can because they will outgrow it. They will find out the truth from an older sibling or a friend at school. Just be prepared to give them an explanation and wipe their tears. 😦

There is nothing in the world more precious than the love that one human being gives to another, that is the one gift in life you can’t put price on.
Wishing you all a joyous Holiday season
Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xoxo

Tom Brady vs Tim Tebow

After reading so much about Tim Tebow, I just had to watch Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. Tim Tebow was going face-to-face with Tom Brady. {It’s like comparing apples to oranges.} Come on, there is no comparison. Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL.  It was must-see television.  Did you watch? 😉

Broncos started strong but lost their momentum and could not regain focus after the first half.  “They scored on their first three possessions and then were done in by a trio of turnovers in the final 8 1/2 minutes of the second quarter.”  They started fast but then fizzled.  I’m no football expert but I’m sure it happens even to the best teams in the NFL.

During the 4th quarter, Tebow took a knee and I wondered could this be it, it’s finally Tebow time. I was looking at the clock and thinking, they are going to need a miracle, but despite all their efforts they were defeated.  It was a great game nonetheless.

“It was a really good day for us,” Brady said. “Very emotional game. It was really rocking early. We showed some mental toughness.”

Tim Tebow is just a young man who plays with heart.  He has faith in himself, faith in football and faith in God.  Give him a chance, football fans. 😉

Sometimes a loss like this is what a team needs to re-gain focus.   Looking forward to seeing their next game.

Until tomorrow…. Peace & Love xoxo

A much needed break…

Took a break for a few days to relax, unwind and celebrate my 36th birthday.  There were no whistles and horns or lots of balloons, just a nice dinner with the hubs at The Dutch in the W Hotel South Beach.  Yes, I’m a bit spoiled. 🙂  It was a fantastic evening.  The drinks were flowing and I was all smiles.  My evening ended the next morning at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.(OH Joey!)  {Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me…}

I am 36 years old. I still can’t believe it…  As I sit here and reflect on my life, I can honestly say that I hold no regrets, just lessons learned.  This year I re-learned a few lessons.

  • People will disappoint you.
  • Friends come and go.
  • Letting go isn’t easy.

Things always happen for the best.  There is always a reason…

  • Never take anything for granted.
  • Love the ones who treat you right.
  • Life is wonderful.
  • I love myself just the way I am.

Time has a wonderful way of showing you what really matters.  Thank you, God!

I look forward to a new year being a little bit more wiser.  😉

Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xoxo

Who is Tim Tebow?

It seems like nearly every week, I am reading or hearing about how unbelievable Tim Tebow is with his miraculous 4th quarter comebacks. He is the most discussed phenomenon of the NFL season.  It has definitely sparked my curiosity.   Who is he? 😉

Tim Tebow, is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

  • Born: August 14, 1987
  • Height: 6’3
  • Weight: 245 lbs
  • Age: 24

Awards & Achievements

  • First round NFL draft pick in 2010
  • First-ever sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy
  • Winner of two NCSS National Football Championships
  • Winner of the Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s best college quarterback
  • Two-time winner of the Maxwell Award as the nation’s top college football player
  • Winner of the James E. Sullivan Award as the nation’s most outstanding amateur athlete in any sport

It is quite amazing to see everything he has accomplished.  I still can’t believe he is only 24 years old.  His story is truly amazing.  Did you know, his mother Pam Tebow, became ill with placental abruption and the doctor’s suggested she have an abortion? Thank God, she didn’t make that decision.  She is a courageous woman. God bless her.

I don’t understand why Tebow gets all this negative press for his overt displays of religious faith.  So what, he has faith in football, faith in himself and faith in God!    He takes a knee in prayer and points skyward and this very small gesture has sparked a global media and its now called “Tebowing”.  Simply amazing.

Is he really that awful as a quarterback?  I can’t sit here and say yes because even though I love the sport I don’t know what constitutes a great quarterback.  I’ve heard about the legends but didn’t they all start at the bottom?  Is it that he is too young and lacks the experience?  Why is it that the first three-quarters he seems off and ineffective and in the fourth quarter “It’s Tebow Time.” Maybe he hears a divine voice that tells him “It’s your time to shine, Son.”  Whatever he is feeling at that moment is definitely working for him.  Will it last?  All I know is that…   My eyes will be glued to Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

Tebow says he is working hard every day to improve as a quarterback.

“Hey, I want to be the best player I can be,” says Tebow. “And I work hard every day to get better. I want to make every play, connect on every pass. But I don’t feel the need to look like the prototypical quarterback. A lot of guys look great on the field, but don’t win — even though I really respect those guys and can learn a lot from them. Pardon my language.”

The Denver Broncos should be thanking their lucky stars for Tim Tebow!

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” – Tim Notke  {Tim Tebow, has lived by this quote since he was 6 yrs old.}  Amazing!

His religious style and distinctive character are both impossible to ignore.  He is definitely a force to be reckoned with…

Until tomorrow… Peace & Love xox

I just have to laugh…blockblockblock

Blockblockblockblock – It’s one of those days that my head is spinning and I can’t gather my thoughts. I remember having an English professor in highschool that always said “If the words are not coming keep writing the word block‘ until you get unblocked.” Funny as that may sound, it does work at times. 😉

My day was quite busy… work, work and more work {more like blah blah blah}.  What else is there to say, its called ‘work’ for a reason right…JA JA.  I was there eight hours and it felt like I didn’t accomplish anything{have you had one of those days…}.  I was also in a meeting for an hour which didn’t help but tomorrow is another day.  Blockblockblockblockblockblock.  Snap out of it Melissa, get your head in the game.  Me: O.K. inner voice, leave me alone.

I’m not in the best of moods to say, my mother surprised me with a nice dinner to celebrate day two of my birthday {not upset with mom}.  Did I mention my birthday is December 16th? {doing the happy dance \o/}.  I started celebrating just a few days early…why not!? 🙂  Well getting back to the point, as I’m getting to my mom’s house, Joey (my hubs) receives a call from his brother asking him to pick-up his parents from the airport which is about 45 mins away.  WTF {screaming} is that… Why didn’t he call him earlier in the day to plan ahead?  I’m not upset that he has to pick up his parents but his brother loves to take advantage. If he knew he had the responsibility to pick them up, he shouldn’t  have scheduled any work at that time.  He expects everyone to do him favors and if you refuse… OH MY GOD, it’s the end of the world in his eyes.  It’s funny, but when you need him for anything, he is always too busy.  So needless to say, my hubs couldn’t enjoy his meal {not happy}.  I told him that I would stay at my mom’s enjoying her lovely dinner. Now I have to wait until he returns {tick tock}. I’m not upset, i’m not upset, im not upset.  Blockblockblockblock blockblockblock  I hate when the words are not flowing.  I’m here staring at the screen and my head is at a million different other places…. #shakingmyhead

I just have to laugh….blockblockblockblock ;(

Tomorrow is another day… Peace & Love xox
